Underfloor heating is the stylish and efficient way to heat the modern home or office.
It’s a system that by design is out of sight and out of mind, but one that you know is there every time you step into a room, and every time you open a heating bill. With energy savings of up to 40%, more and more homes, self-builds, offices and commercial properties are switching to underfloor heating.
F.G.Welch Central Heating & Gas Services Ltd is the company they trust to install it.
Clean, Simple and Economical
Unobtrusive and simple to maintain, an F.G.Welch -installed underfloor heating system does away with radiators and pipe-work, freeing up space and generating even amounts of easily-controlled warmth throughout the room.
Even if constraints of cost or installation are a factor, F.G.Welch systems can be designed to integrate with your existing central heating to provide all the benefits and savings. It really couldn’t be simpler. You give us the plans to your building and our experienced team of designers and engineers will do the rest. In no time at all you’ll have the luxury of a bespoke underfloor heating system in your home or office.
Is it effective?
To work effectively, underfloor requires water temperatures of between 45oC and 55oC. These temperatures are easily obtained by blending flow water and return water from the underfloor system by means of a thermostatic mixing facility supplied.
Is it expensive to run?
No, advances in material technology make it possible to have a cost-effective heating system that incorporates energy efficiency and high performance, utilising low water temperatures of between 45oC and 55oC. Typically, radiator systems operate on higher temperatures, thus making them less cost effective in the longer term.
Do you sell the system in kit form?
No, every system is custom made to individual project requirements including bespoke design. We believe it is important to design every underfloor heating system individually so that the exact heat requirements of the room can be met. The danger with kits is that the heat requirement is calculated incorrectly leaving the room with inadequate heat.
What guarantee does the system carry?
All pipe work is guaranteed for 10 years and all controls are guaranteed for 12 months from date of installation.
What heat output can I expect to achieve?
On screeded floors the approximate output is 100W/m2 in living areas and up to 130W/m2 in hall areas. On plated and floating floor applications the approximate output is 70W/m2. The heat output must be calculated accurately for each room.
What type of boiler is compatible with underfloor?
Our underfloor heating is suitable for use with all types of wet central heating systems, including gas, oil or solid fuels and conventional, combination or condensing boilers. It is also used for mixed systems with, for example, underfloor heating on the ground floor and radiators on the first floor. It is ideally suited to condensing or high-efficiency boilers because of the lower water temperatures they generate.
How does it work?
In basic terms, underfloor heating is plastic pipe buried in the floor, using either a screed, plated or floating fixing method.
